YUE DU WEN HUA JIE

Reading Festival

In 2022, the Reading Festival “Group Reading the History of the Chinese Civilization” was held. Through a series of activities such as lectures, exhibitions, film exhibitions and culture workshops, students got an opportunity to learn about the civilization history of China for five thousand years, which helped enhancing their cultural self-confidence and national pride. Responding to the 14th Five-Year Plan of the University, the Reading Culture Festival also made contribution to the cultural construction of Peking University.

Featured Events

Through various online and offline channels and numerous lectures, exhibitions, shows and events, the Library provides abundant and varied services to create the reading atmosphere, leading students to experience high-quality reading and assisting them to engage in reading activities. In every semester, the library holds series of brand activities, such as Reading Marathon, cultural workshops, movie lectures, etc., with the aim to build the library into the third classroom for students and help the university to conduct humanistic education. Advance notices of upcoming events will be posted on library WeChat official account, Weibo official account, library homepage and university homepage.

Annual Reading Report

The annual reading report not only reflects the resource utilization in the Library by diverse kinds of readers, but also puts central focus on students, the core user group of the library. Based on the basic service data of the Library, the report is developed by extensive collection and research to fully understand the reading habits and characteristics of our students. It strives for an objective, comprehensive and vivid reflection of students’ habits and preferences in reading.

Art Appreciation Lectures

Based on the advantageous resources of multiple disciplines, Peking University Libraryutilizes its strengths in information dissemination and creates a unique service model for art communication. A series of lectures, including "The Beauty of Disciplines," "Exploring Chinese Calligraphy," and "The Beauty of Chinese Traditional Art," are held in the Art Appreciation Hall located in the south auxiliary building of the library.

Science Lectures

Leveraging its advantage in information dissemination and scientific communication, Peking University Library has created a distinctive scientific communication service model, and collaborated with school's functional departments and faculties to hold a series of lectures entitled "Frontier Science and Technology Lectures", "Red Avenue Materials Science Forum", and "Peking University IP Lectures" in the Science Report Hall of Peking University Library.

Cultural Experience

Woodblock printing is a traditional Chinese printing technique that involves carving book content onto a wooden board, applying ink to the carved block, and then covering the paper pages for printing to obtain the finished product.
